Tag was a game I played at recess

Okay now, I am not trying to come across as the grouchy person always spoiling the fun. But, (you knew that was coming didn't you) I am not a big fan of the tagging in the bloggosphere. And no It's not just because no one ever tags me. (okay, maybe just a little) But I don't want to all of a sudden go into a fit because my one brain cell left can't come up with something clever to put down for someones tag. I mean really, I can barely post a slightly coherent post as it is. That's why I am a BLOG STALKER. I depend on others to make ME laugh and cry and enjoy their witty and deeply thought out blogs. I like to think of myself as deep but who's kidding who. I am who I am and thats all that I yam. Wow, now I am starting to sound like cartoon characters.

So on a serious note. Okay on a slightly coherent thread of thought , I want to generate some fun banter. Now I really like music. All kinds of music. But there is also some music I just can't stand. I sometimes relate life moments to songs and think, Jeez, that song totally would be playing right now in the movie of my life. But that's a totally different post. What was the purpose of this post anyway? Oh yeah, so instead of tagging a bunch of you and then waiting to see if any of you had the time or the interest to respond in your own blog. I decided to just ask you my questions and have you post your answers as comments. Pretty painless don't you think? Really, you don't have to keep going back to the other post to see what the questions are or cutting and pasting. Just leave your comment and move on. Or then leave another comment amending your first. Whatever it takes. So will this go over well with you my fellow bloggers, or will I be shunned by the blogging world for straying outside the comfort zone?

I really do have a question, so if you are still here reading, thank you for sticking around.

Today's Question: What are your favorite bands/artists from the eighties? And remember this is an all ages question. You were either around during the eighties or you have seen all the VH-1 remembering the eighties. At the very least, some of the bands from the 80's are actually still together.

So come on bloggers, don't disappoint me.

I have an alltime favorite SINGER and if you've been to my blog you know who THAT is. But as far as BANDS/GROUPS...I loved BonJovi, Duran Duran, Def Leppard, Ratt, Poison, Motley Crue...those were the main ones

I have different favorites depending on my mood. But I loved Motley Crue, Cinderella, Ratt and Metallica during the eighties. But I listened to all the pop stuff too and tend to like it now more than I did then. Some songs can definitely 'take me back' to that special decade known only as the eighties. So check my blog out. I just posted my own eighties post. And go ahead and link me to your site. Great idea on the whole stalking blogs concept. We all do it so its just normal I guess. So I take it your from Ukraine or is that just to throw us off? Your pretty old too, lol!

www.jedwhetten.blogspot.com

ooh! I also liked Bon Jovi, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Poison, Warrant.....well you get the idea!

Okay...I hate 80's music. Seriously don't like it at all. I LOVE your blog though. Adding it to the list of must reads right. now.

Well, since my friends and I put on AWESOME dance/gymnastic recitals on in my basement to Whitney Houston, I have give her mention. And if you check out my Ipod, you would probably find an array of poop rock: Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Poison. And don't forget Tiffany and Debbie Gibson. ;o)

Blog Stalker said...

Dawn - I do not usually admit to liking Michael Jackson though ....but will now...good one

Amy and Jed - You guys listen to the same stuff I do...great hair metal

Black Betty - Totally forgot Beastie Boys. i have worn out many a tape/cd of them.

Heather - Hate is such a strong word! There is so much to choose from. Is there maybe something else about the 80's your repressing? Go ahead and list what music you DO like. any era okay, don't want you to feel left out.

Lissa - I forgot about the Debbie Gibson/ Tiffany music. And the Bangles too dont forget--Walk like an Egyption! lol

Blog Stalker said...

Sorry Amy, guess I forgot Rick Springfield too.

And his alter ego Bruce Springsteen. Has anyone ever seen them together or could they be the same man? just thinking aloud because there is like no discernable difference.

Wow - reading everybody's responses so far has really "triggered" some old tunage... here's who I can remember listening to on Casey Kasem's Top 40 countdown saturdays:

Kool & the Gang
REO Speedwagon
America (yes they were still around - remember "you can do magic"?)
Journey
ABBA
Eurythmics
Air Supply
Duran Duran
David Bowie
ZZ Top
Police
Rod Stewart (everyone had his "wig" for Halloween)
Billy Joel
Madonna
Depeche Mode
The Bangles

and my favorite artist of the 80s -

Cyndi Lauper!!!

That's Right! I was so impressed how Time After Time she would show her True Colors and wasn't afraid to be her own person!!! (Ok - that was WAAAAY corny).

Anyway, loved her sense of "style". Hmmm, could explain my yearning to be Punky Brewster back then too!

Hahaha! Thanks for triggering such fond memories...music does that. Awesome post!

Duran Duran is coming to mind, as well as all of the '80s rockers. You know, the ones with the back-combed hair, spandex pants, and more make-up than a gaggle of junior high girls all mucked up on one beautiful male face. (Cinderella, Poison, RATT, Bon Jovi, White Lion). I also like Michael Jackson - who also, come to think of it, fits the above description).
Then there were the '80s teen pop princesses, Debbie Gibson, Suzie Q, Tiffany.

I know I'm going to think of all my absolute favorites later today, when it won't mean anything. lol

Thanks for stopping by today. You are entered into the contest!

Oh yea, HUGE difference between Rick Springfield and Bruce Springsteen. Rick was on my wall many times over. I only took up Soaps when he was Dr. Noah Drake on General Hospital. He left, so did I.

ok - as far as your above comment on Country Music...[okay, nobody shoot me]... I always said that Country Music is an oxymoron! (for rude!!! I'll understand if you hate me now!!!)

Hey there, thanks for stopping by my blog =)

As to your question:
Boy George - who doesn't like Karma Chameleon?!

The Jets - I had a tape of them I would listen to over and over as a kid

Starship - I named by baby doll after one of their songs, Sara, it was always on the radio in the car. I have no idea how I remembered it.

New Kids on the Block - My sister was obsessed with them and, of course, I wanted to be just like her being the youngest.

I'm totally the same way with music! I have a song/album for every event and mood hah.

The Boss, John Cougar (before he became Mellencamp), Michael Jackson (Thriller only--and ESPECIALLY the Thriller Dance), Men at Work, The Clash, and Kathy Mattea. Yeah, had to put one Country Gal in, or I wouldn't be true to who I was and who I am!

Summer said...

Well, back in the 80's I wasn't really very old. I'd have to say Jem and the Holograms.

oh and I can't believe I forgot Men Without Hats!

can I just copy and past some of the other commenters? I'm totally with you on the tag thing.. It's annoying

WoW!

Lissa beat me to Tiffany and Debbie. Those girls just rawk(ED) in a big way.

You're too funny. I wonder if the voice I've created in my head for you really matches you in real life.

Anyway, thanks for visiting Missouri via BAThW - no the China thing wasn't an inside joke. Glad you were had. We SO were at the Olympics with Michael behind us on TV. You could add that to your profile - get yourself all Blair Witch Projectin' it with Michael Phelps TiVoed in the background. Just thinking outloud.

Love your blog.
Keep it up :)

Loving it everyone! I knew you people were cool like that.

Tulsi - I'm blushing over the favorite person comment. Will try to live up to it. But the village people? really? actually now that I think of it, they are the FUNNEST group to dane to. Also love the survivor ref. AKA Rocky theme sound....OH YEAH!

Abra - Great list of groups, I love 4 non blondes. But some of them are definitely 90's(4 non blondes, Nirvana) But no point deduction since they are Great none the less

Tulsi - I knew SOMEONE would not like my ref to the boys being the same. haha

Emmap - Country is not for everyone. But I can handle it in doses. I would not eliminate an entire genre of music though, not even rap!(although I def cant stand most of it)

Diana - Totally loved the culture club(scary) and I do remember the Jets-Big Island family of singers, right? Anmd OMGosh, New Kids! I thought they were way better than the "teenie bopper" tag they ended up with.

Melissa B - The Clash- awesome....glad to see at least one country ref...just to balance

Hot air- Jem and the Holograms? Okay that is funny. Sad is that I know the reference.

Abra - "pop goes the world"- johnny played guitar, jenny played bass......great addition to the list

Insane Mama - You can copy and paste, but you didn't.

Karin - Yeah, Tiffany and D. Gibson were pretty big. Kind of dissapearded though. Kind of like my youth

This has been fun guys. I have not been dissapointed thus far. Everyone give yourselves a pat on the back.'

Nobody patted themselves on the back, right?

tiarastantrums said...

okay - I was in high school in the 80's - so I remember all the words to these songs - for some CRAZY reason!! I think all the music I loved has been listed above - although I didn't see Ongo BongO? (not even sure if this is how it is spelled - forgot?)
Great post!

I know who I'm tagging next. Muhaha And I was born in 81 so I was a new kids on the block fan. As well as Paula Abdul (before she was bat shit crazy) and Milli Vanilli (before they were exposed).

I liked Gary Numan (I was actually meant to marry him, but there was some last minute hitch...something to do with he didn't actually know I existed as I was one of million (?) of fans...whatever, Gary, whatever)

And Japan. Also miserable looking, wimpy men in make-up. Gotta love the UK in the 80's. Very handy for worried mummies, if that's the kind of boy you come home with, surely they're not capable of the THING you fear.

Like your blog, wandered over From Ronda's Rants.

I will leave my two bits by saying that 80s music rocked...you could actually even dance to it. My all time favorite is and was Bon Jovi but they are not only an 80s band but still rocking on today. Funny though if you would have asked me if I liked Bon Jovi in the 80s I would have said "no" cuase he was hard rock (at least I thought that at the time). I listened to Talking Heads, Men at Work and anything that was "pop". My first concert was Tiffany.

Blog Stalker said...

Tiaras - Oingo Boingo, good one. And yes I still have most of the lyrics down to the eighties. Loved nineties music too, but harder to understand for sure(grunge for example)

Tiffany - Another New Kids fan, sweet. And Paula is soooooooo weird lately. Anyone watching American Idol would have to agree.

Ronda - Pat yourself on the back again.....and thanks for the award. (blushing)

Nic - I am sure Gary just lost your number

Mindy - Loved your 2 bits. Dancing in the eighties. Thats a whole different post! lol
