Dear Mr./Mrs Creditor:

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas. I know it is not politically correct to say Merry Christmas, but who cares? Not me. Anyway, I wanted to write you this quick letter to express my well wishes. Over the last few months I feel we have grown very close. I do not have any other friends who call me as much or as often as you do.

At first we talked all the time. You would ask me to make those minimal payments to keep your bosses off my back. You were so looking after me. You almost cared when you would call just two days after receiving that payment asking for more. You just could not go very long without talking to me and do not think I have not appreciated you eagerness.

I am sorry that I have become so busy that we have not had the pleasure of talking to each other as of late. Taking all the extra work I can for even the pennies I am offered is a must at this time. And I don't mean to be rude but sometimes you call at the most inconvenient times. And why don't you ever leave a message?

Unfortunately I think our relationship may be in jeopardy. I tried to send your bosses a letter explaining the situation to see if we could work something out but it seems that it was not received well. Apparently somehow they know of a way to feed a large family, keep them sheltered AND pay large payments to them on an income a little over a third of what it was last year.

I must say that I am a (stalker) of honor and want nothing more than to pay my debts. After all ,they are my debts. But our situation, through no fault of mine or my spouse, is tragically dire. And from talking to others, we are not the only ones going through this. But now you had to go and get lawyers involved. That is just not a nice way to treat the friend you have been calling for over eight months now. If we go down this road I may just have to go down the dark and ominous road of bankruptcy. If that happens I feel you will stop calling me and then what would I do with all that free time?

Hope this letter finds you well and did not take you away from anything important such as dinner or work or time with your family.

Your friend,

(Blogstalker)

not funny and yet totally funny. hope it is ok that I say that! :)

I love it... hopefully, they won't want to disturb the "friendship"... good luck. (by the way... i had some friends who went through bankruptcy last year. not as bad as she thought, and definitely not the worst that could have happened.)... be mindful, be prayerful, and stay peaceful :)

I know this is so hard...it sucked for us for a long time...but now I just say..."please stop calling, here is my case #, talk to my lawyer."

I know this is hard. We have our house phone for messages only. Not screening. We just don't answer it. Steve wanted to get rid of it, but I said I wasn't giving out my cell. They call without giving a company name, but a phone number you are to call back. If they don't leave a company, I don't call back. My brother went through a certain bankruptcy last month where he pays a certain amount monthly to a company and they pay the creditors he has. I don't want Kass to know it has been financially hard on us with his mission. It's almost a year gone (Feb) and then only one more year. Our extended families don't exchange gifts any more so there is not one gift under our tree thus far and I wonder what to do for Mikele. Our little family exchange gifts. Mik has all of Brie, Shane and Addi's, but that is all that is purchased. I loved you "letter". My brother's house was taken from him for missing one house payment when his then wife decided to keep the money for bills and skip out. She's not on our Christmas list.

That's hysterical! It's much better to laugh about it all than to cry!

We went thru this same thing 31 years ago when our son was born...Dear Hubby lost his job, we had no health insurance, I had an emergency c-section and the baby and I were in the hospital almost a week. We were devastated financially. I wrote letters to all our creditors, telling them we were Christians and they'd get every penny due to them. It took 5 years to pay off our son's bills from his birth. When I sent in the last payment I got the sweetest card in the mail from his doctor's office staff, thanking us for being people of our word and wishing us the best. I know times have changed and now zillions of people are filing bankruptcy and foreclosing, etc., but I've always heard that as long as you pay SOMETHING they can't get you. Maybe laws have changed...I dunno. But I will certainly continue to pray for you. I KNOW how stressful all of this is, believe me. (((((HUG)))))

My brother was paying 'something', almost a quarter of the missing payment with the current payment, but put his home in foreclosure. After calls and letters explaining the situation. We thought it had to go a certain amount of months before they put a house in foreclosure. He has his vehicle, good job, and a new place that is cheeper near his work in the town he works in. I guess this is a good thing/bad thing.
