MOVIE NIGHT is the answer. Sometimes all it takes to make a great night is popping in some old movies you have not watched in awhile, put on some comfy old clothes and turn off all the lights so we can munch on home made popcorn and treats.
That is exactly how we spent last night, and plan on spending each night this weekend. First off its cheap and fun and sometimes you just have to school your children on the classics.
I found out none of my children had ever watched Karate kid. What? that is not acceptable. They need to get my references to "painting the fence" and "waxing on and off" lol.
What other movies have my kids not seen?
Here are some must see cult favorites of mine and you be the judge of whether or not they should be "must sees"
- Teen Wolf
- Bill and Teds Excellent adventure
- Home Alone
- Gremlins
- Krull
- Beetlejuice
- clue
- Short Circuit
- Adventures in Babysitting
- Tron
- Back to the Future
- A Christmass Story
- The Dark Crystal
- Soul Man
- Dream a little dream (the corey's)
- Ghostbusters
- The Last Starfighter
- The Money Pit
- Starman
- Summer School
- The Pirate Movie
So, i know this is a long list to some of you and a short list to some others of you. Any of them stand out to you? As I was thinking back on some of these I think I started laughing out loud. One of the kids asked what was so funny. I could not explain it, some things you just have to keep to yourself.

So, have you watched any of these movies or some like them lately? Did they hold up to the way you remembered them? I once had a Back to the Future Marathon because none of my kids had seen any of them. I had not remembered some of the language in those movies. Not bad, but I was a little taken back. I think those movies definitely still fit the bill but one that didn't was enemy mine. I could not even list that movie. Great idea for a movie and I had fond memories of it(I was probably 10 or so when I saw it) But it is awful bad now. I couldn't force myself to sit through the whole thing.
.............................................................................................................................................
So, what movies on this list would make YOUR list?
............................................................................................................................................
Which movies didn't make my list but should be there?

Have a great day stalkers!

I love all DIsney Movies and anything by Sean Connery but you did have a really good list posted
LOL I can't tell you how funny that post was you left on my blog. I spewed PEPSI all over the Screen. YES I'm still drinking it I think that was a load of bull and someone is looking for a pay off
The Goonies
Can't Buy Me Love
Some Kind Of Beautiful
Great list, BTW! I totally forgot about some of those! And while I remembered "wax on wax off", I totally forgot the "paint the fence" reference!
"Lucas" with a very young Corey Haim and one that is my kids' all time favorite, "The Princess Bride". The "Addams Family" movies are great, too.
Definitely Ghostbusters and
The Last Starfighter.
I haven't seen a ton of these. I feel like a total loser now! : ( I hope you have fun! I have to introduce Karate Kid to Kaishon soon. That is a perfect movie : )
How fun. I love movie night! Your list is awesome!
Some I have been thinking of are: Some Kind of Wonderful, The Outsiders, Goonies and Gremlins.
XOXO
Jen
Dream a Little Dream with Cory Haim and Cory Feldman
Ferris Beulers Day Off
Clueless - It might be newer and doesn't go over a teenagers head in a couple of areas, but Mik watched it on TV one day and knew some of the quotes I've had for her. Plus a learning experience mentioning shoes. I told her to memorize it and use it.
I LOVE Summer School. I was trying to explain it to Mikele since I have this big crush on Mark Harmon and she knows him only from NCIS. Now I have to go find a copy.
A great idea, Blogstalker! I love your list. National Lampoon's Vacacation is a classic. Actually, anything by John Hughes is hysterical. Grease. Don't know how old your children are. If they're young, of course, Disney. ET, Close Encounters.
It's hard for me, as I'll go on and on!
Enjoy movie night! :))
I found Goonies at walmart for $5 one time. My children had never seen it. What about adding ET to that list?
Other than that I love your list.
Thanks for sending some good vibes my way. I really am ready for some good health at my house.
Well, I'm obviously old because when you said "Classics" I thought you meant OLD movies. Like the kind in black and white. Did you know they had black and white movies?
Favorite family series-the movies about indiana Jones
As for the movies on your list-YES!!! all kids should watch these!
I think E.T., Breakfast Club, and Goonies must be on the list. Also, a personal favorite of mine growing up was Top Gun. While perhaps not a cult favorite, definitely one of mine.
I enjoy reading your blog and love the premise.
