So, no I am not giving away any money. Heck, I am not giving away anything. But since you are here anyway, why not take a minute and humor an old blogger.(not booger)
As I have done frequently in life, i have imagined what I would do with lots and lots of money if I....
- A. Won the lottery
- B. Had a rich relative die and leave me lots of money
- C. Came up with a million dollar idea that some super rich person bought
- and so on and so forth
It has always been fun and I think i would be quite the responsible money handler just given the chance. I have heard that money corrupts and that I would just blow it anyway, but hey, give me the chance to prove you wrong. I know i do not need money to be happy....BUT IT WOULDN'T HURT!
So my question today is. What would you do with $10,000 if it came to you out of the blue with no strings attached? I know this is not an easy question to answer. And since I wouldn't ask you fine stalkers to answer anything I was not willing to answer myself....here it goes
first off, $10,000 would not even touch the debt I owe so paying off debts would not be what I would see as the best use of this money. But it is not going to pay off my house either.
I know, I could put it away for the kids and college. Or I could take it to vegas and try to grow it to millions. Maybe I could just give it to someone even worse off than me. Tough decision to make, even if the money is imaginary. I mean, you have to be serious about this, right? lol
Anyway, this is what I would do(I think):
Go on a really great vacation. Not anything elaborate. Just something we may never get the chance to do again. And then, yes, I would put the money in a bank account and hope I could add to it later for all I am hoping to help the kids with.
So, boring? Maybe......So let me know what you would do with $10,000.
Have a great day!

Since I currently have a daughter in college I would definitely give her some and possibly get her a car. Save some for the other daughter who will be in college in two years...boring.
Other wise I would blow it in a fab family vacation.
PS great music on your blog. Normally turn it off when I come across a musical blog.
The same thoughts crossed my mind... wouldn't cover the debt or buy a house... I would definitely do a trip with family and friends because those memories will last forever whereas clothing or a new car won't have lasting satisfaction.
forget the vacay...I'd get me some plastic surgery! Wait, it probably wouldn't be enough..Ok family vacation it is...and then maybe buy a car for my teen, pay for some tuition to the college...it doesn't go very far does it? Maybe I'd stash it in the bank till I was sure we were out of this tanked economy.
What percentage is it of the cash flow I have going?
Well, it wasn't $10,000 that came my way. It was $7,000 left to me from an elderly uncle I'd helped out, cleaning his house, etc. It had no strings attached. If I remember correctly, I think I tithed some to my church. I bought my wonderful Dear Hubby a pretty expensive rifle. Christmas was definitely fun that year! And I think we put the rest of it in savings and just used it for things as they came along. We might've gone for a nice, long getaway at the beach, too. This was several years ago, so you have to forgive the vagueness of my answers, ha! Funny thing is, $7,000 really doesn't go all that far when you get down to it, but it was a totally unexpected "thank you" from my uncle, and deeply appreciated.
First off, did you know that when asked in a random poll, 75% of people said the first thing they would do if they won the lottery is get a divorce?
Yup.
$10000? I would dump it on our open line. Then I'd feel okay about taking a family holiday like we were hoping to do in November. Who am I kidding? $10000 or not, I want the family holiday. :)
Disneyland, that is what I would do first thing with some of the
$10,000. Since it won't pay off my debt, the family should have a fun trip some place we have never been. So Disney is the first thing that came to my mind.
Have a great day!
Pay off my line of credit, buy new furniture, new carpet and a new Mac. Or maybe pay some of the line of credit off and go for a vacation too.
Thanks for commenting on my blog! I always play out this scenario in my head, though usually the amount is higher. 10,000 would cover about half my student debt...if I finish grad school in two years. If I didn't have that debt, I would buy a small, nice, moderate house, a cat condo so my kitty will stop climbing on all the furniture, and then copious amounts of books.
We don't have much debt besides my car and the house so $10,000 would get us out. Kass isn't home so I wouldn't do a vacation. Probably put the rest on a car for Mikele so she wouldn't drive mine. Or pretend I wanted to visit Missouri, which I really do, but just happen to bump into Kass. So maybe the vacation wouldn't be a bad idea.
I would stay on an island, here in Michigan called Isle Royale for 2 days, then fly to Mackinac Island and stay at the Grand Hotel for a few more. Then we would go somewhere my kids dream of vacationing.
I am totally hitting the lottery and moving to South Padre Island, TX!
