12 lbs!

Okay, so I am going to go ahead and post about the boring old weight loss struggles in the life of wee (I wish) blogstalker.

I have really started catching the bug for running again. I have gotten over the mental edge of giving up some sleep if necessary in order to run consistently. It of course has been revitalizing. I come home from a good run and my muscles feel tighter and the flab, while still visible feels attacked.

And then of course when you are felling good having had a good run, you sure don't want to zero out the effort with a bunch of bad eating and so my eating has gotten a little more on track. And what does it all mean?

I am officially (according to someone Else's scale) 12 lbs lighter than when I re-took back my self control and self esteem. Yay for me! But the journey is not a short one or one that ends when I reach the magic number. Wish me luck in the coming weeks!

So today's question is about healthy eating;

What 'good for you' snacks do you eat to put off that hunger pang between meals?
AND
What is the best way to keep a lapse in good eating from turning into a collapse?

Have a great day!

There's so many great snacks to tide you over!

I like roasted almonds, salted. Better for you without the salt, but hey- live a little! Congrats on the weight loss! Don't give up!

I have become a Veggie person...I try really hard to keep lot's on hand and that is what I snack on or fruit!
Great job! You should be proud of yourself!

Or, how do you stop the collapse that has already happened and tell yourself it was only a lapse and get back on track? Especially with a cast on one leg, a sweet tooth and no motivation?

Awesome on the weight loss!!! Do you get that runner's high I heard about?

Cucumbers with lemon and lime. YUMO. I throw those 100 calorie snack backs at my hubby to help him. I honestly think that putting up a picture of yourself with how you want to look and at your heaviest and keeping it near the frig really helps. That is how I managed to lose all the baby weight and then some just by being reminded of where I was and where I wanted to go....

well, I am *new* to the world of running. I used to go in high school and college for *fun*... not exercise. As an Adult (post-weight gain) I only walked. I tried to run once or twice, but carrying this sort of weight was a lot different and harder on my knees. So i walked for years. While walking is good for the heart, it wont do much for weightloss without the great eating habits to go along too. So, NOW, i decided I want to RUN a 5k at the end of summer...i have started on the treadmill and as a beginner i walk 5 min, run 2, "rinse and repeat". And each week i will continue to add 1 min to the running part. I always do the three miles, and it feels great! you are right about that. I love running in the summer cause i also dont feel like snacking as much. I do keep lots of fruit on hand. the problem is the fresh produce is so much more $ than the el cheapo bag of chips, etc. Here is what I do with the "real" snacks. I find the healthier versions; the baked or light. Then i use the "snack-size" ziploc bags and divvy them up into the 100 calorie portions, (or the 1-pt, 2-pt WeightWatchers portions). THEN i stash the snacks way up high in a cabinet I never really use. It works for me... outta sight, outta mind. Then if i feel the munchies come on, I drink a 8 oz of water (or even crystal light) first. Sometimes, it takes the edge...and then if not, i know i can go to the "snack cabinet". But, i find that most times i don't. And on the days that I have a class or something that interrupts my running schedule, i get "antsy"... i feel like i NEED to be out there running...

Great news, Blogstalker!

Fresh fruits, veggies are the best!

The hardest is to get into the rythmn of your workout. Do you have a running buddy? It helps!

Keep up the great work, Blogstalker! :))

Way to go on the 12 lbs. I need to get up early and get back to working out in the morning.

I love to have honey on my oatmeal in the morning. As for snacks, well I still have not mastered that one yet.

I guess I should check my Followers list on my Dashboard more often. A while back I accidentally deleted all of my favorite blog links, one of which was yours, and I have slowly built it back up again as people have come back to comment. I just found your site again! THIS time...now that I understand what reader services is all about, will put you THERE as well so I won't lose you again, HA! I've got a LOT of catching up to do!

Congrats! I am still working on eating healthy snacks that get me through. I do find fruit salad is a good one . But still need more suggestions...I will be back to read more comments on this one.

Wow!! Way to go!! I know how difficult it is to loose weight by watching my husband. He eats a lot of celery dipped in a mix of some sort of concoction of vinegar, spices and sometimes italian dressing. Right now he eats a lot of rhubarb.
